Midnight Moon Gouda Cheese Review

Okay. Here's the good stuff. Although it's marketed by Cypress Grove in California, it's actually made by cheese makers in Holland using a traditional gouda recipe. The main difference is that it's made with goat's milk rather than the usual cow's milk.

Lord knows I'm not one to gush over a cheese, but this stuff is really good. It has a unique and sweet flavor that I guarantee will induce yummy noises.

And the flavor, which grabs you right away and hangs on, is very elusive. Is that brown-buttery? Not too strong, not too mild. Is it caramel-y? Something floral perhaps? Peanut brittle. That's it. No..... ... That's not it....... But whatever it is, it's yummy.

We've had a lot of fresh goat cheese lately so tasting the stuff aged for a year is pretty interesting. Midnight Moon goat's milk Gouda = Highly recommended.

My favorite cheese at the moment. Aged gouda with the little lactic acid crystals. Cypress Grove has hit two homeruns with Humboldt Fog and Midnight Moon.

Oh goodness, this is some of the best gouda I've tasted in a long while - the nuttiness with subtle goat's milk flavoring, the slightly salty creaminess that melts in your mouth... it's my favorite thing to enjoy with a good bottle of fruity rose and some grilled peaches out in the sun.
