Roaring Forties Blue Cheese Review

Roaring Forties Blue Cheese is made by the Kings Island Dairy, on an island just north of Tasmania. The "Roaring Forties" part of the name comes from the nasty winds on the island and it's location at the 40th latitude.

This is a handcrafted cow's milk cheese made from milk of local cows.

The cheese is encased in a thick wax before shipping. But don't let that put you off. It's the good stuff. Bottomline this is a rather unique blue cheese. Noticeably sweet, mild, creamy, complex flavors not found in other blues, a bit less salty, and with a definite brown tint. While it certainly had a "blue cheese" character, I immediately noticed the sweetness and nutty flavor. Perhaps it's a bit more "cheesy" and a bit less "moldy".

The wife didn't like it at all, but I think she was distracted by the brown color. Apparently where she comes from cheese is not suppose to be brown. But where I come from we go more by taste, and for me this cheese's taste is a winner.

Roaring 40's blue cheese is

Roaring 40's blue cheese is the absolute most wonderful, decadent, mindblowing blue cheese I've ever had. And I live 30 monutes from where they make Maytag blue cheese. Roaring 40's blue cheese is an addition that I don't mind bragging about!
